EKSPLORASI PERSPEKTIF DAN HARAPAN KADER KESEHATAN DI PUSKESMAS NGEMPLAK I DALAM PENDAMPINGAN PASIEN DENGAN KANKER

Latar Belakang : Kanker merupakan penyakit dengan pertumbuhan sel abnormal yang dapat menyebar ke organ tubuh lain dan menjadi salah satu penyebab utama kematian. Pasien kanker membutuhkan perawatan suportif secara berkelanjutan, termasuk di lingkungan masyarakat. Dalam hal ini, kader kesehatan berperan dalam deteksi dini, edukasi, pencegahan kanker, serta memberikan dukungan emosional dan motivasi bagi pasoen. Namun, penelitian mengenai perspektif dan harapan kader kesehatan dalam pendampingan pasien kanker masih terbatas. 

Tujuan Penelitian : Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perspektif dan harapan dari  kader kesehatan dalam pendampingan pasien kanker.

Metode : Penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif eksploratif melibatkan 10 kader kesehatan di Puskesmas Ngemplak I. Pengambilan data dengan in-depth interview hingga mencapai saturasi data, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik.

Hasil : Analisis data menghasilkan lima tema utama. Tema pertama, pemaknaan peran dan identitias diri, menunjukkan kader memaknai dirinya sebagai bagian penting dalam pelayanan kesehatan. Tema kedua, peran nyata dalam pendampingan pasien kanker, menggambarkan pendampingan melalui hubungan sosial dan komunikasi suportif. Tema ketiga, dukungan internal dan eksternal yang memperkuat pelayanan kader. Tema keempat, tantangan kinerja, menggambarkan tantangan yang dihadapi kader dalam pendampingan. Tema kelima, harapan untuk penguatan kinerja, menunjukkan kebutuhan dalam berbagai aspek untuk pelayanan kesehatan.

Kesimpulan : Perspektif kader menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan pasien kanker tidak hanya dilakukan sebagai bagian dari pelayanan kesehatan, tetapi juga melibatkan hubungan sosial dan emosional. Selain itu, kader memiliki harapan terhadap penguatan kompetensi, dukungan sistem, kesejahteraan, serta dukungan psikologis untuk mendukung keberlanjutan perannya dalam pendampingan pasien kanker

Background: Cancer is a disease characterized by abnormal cell growth that can spread to other organs and is one of the leading causes of death. Cancer patients require ongoing supportive care, including within the community. In this context, community health workers play a role in early detection, education, and cancer prevention, as well as providing emotional support and motivation to patients. However, research on the perspectives and expectations of community health workers regarding the care of cancer patients remains limited. 

Objective: This study aims to identify the perspectives and expectations of community health workers regarding the care of cancer patients.

Methods: This qualitative study with a descriptive-exploratory approach involved 10 community health workers at the Ngemplak I Community Health Center. Data were collected through in-depth interviews until data saturation was reached, then analyzed thematically.

Results : The data analysis yielded five main themes. The first theme, the interpretation of one’s role and identity, indicates that the cadres view themselves as an important part of health care. The second theme, the actual role in supporting cancer patients, describes support through social relationships and supportive communication. The third theme, internal and external support that strengthens volunteer services, highlights the support mechanisms that reinforce their work. The fourth theme, performance challenges, describes the obstacles volunteers face during patient support. The fifth theme, hopes for performance improvement, highlights the need for enhancements across various aspects of healthcare services.

Conclusion : The perspectives of community health workers indicate that supporting cancer patients is not merely a part of healthcare services but also involves social and emotional relationships. Furthermore, community health workers hope for enhanced competencies, systemic
