Socioeconomic inequality in Eastern Indonesia remains one of the major development challenges and may contribute to variations in crime rates across regions. This study aims to examine the influence of SDGs-based socioeconomic variables on crime in 17 provinces of Eastern Indonesia during the 2015–2024 period. The analysis uses panel data regression with a Random Effect Model and robust standard errors, based on 170 secondary observations collected from BPS, Bappenas, ESDM, and the National Food Agency. The independent variables include poverty, food consumption, health services, education, gender empowerment, energy access, economic welfare, industrial development, income inequality, and internet access. The results indicate that poverty, food consumption, education, economic welfare, industrial development, and internet access significantly affect crime. Poverty, food consumption, education, and economic welfare have positive relationships with crime, while industrial development and internet access have negative relationships. On the other hand, health services, gender empowerment, energy access, and income inequality do not show statistically significant effects. Overall, the model suggests that socioeconomic conditions are important determinants of crime in Eastern Indonesia. These findings can serve as an empirical basis for more targeted and inclusive development policies aimed at reducing crime through improvements in socioeconomic welfare.
