The high open unemployment rate (TPT) remains a regional development problem in West Java Province, despite being the largest manufacturing industry center in Indonesia. West Java is the province with the highest TPT nationally amidst the dominance of the manufacturing industry's economic structure and socio-economic conditions that are expected to create expanded employment opportunities. This study aims to analyze the influence of manufacturing industry development and socio-economic conditions on the open unemployment rate in regencies/cities in West Java Province. The method used is panel data regression analysis in 27 regencies/cities for the period 2017–2024. The research variables include the open unemployment rate (TPT), manufacturing growth rate, manufacturing contribution, Human Development Index (HDI), population growth rate and Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), economic growth, investment, and Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK). The best model based on the Chow and Hausman test is the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) with robust standard error parameter estimation vce (cluster id). The results show that the development of the manufacturing industry as seen from the manufacturing growth rate is not significant to the TPT, while the manufacturing contribution variable is significantly positive to the TPT. Socioeconomic conditions seen from the demand for labor, economic growth has a significant negative effect on the TPT, investment has no significant effect on the TPT and the MSE has a significant positive effect on the TPT. Meanwhile, from the labor supply side, the HDI and TPAK have a significant negative effect on the TPT, while population growth has a significant positive effect. Simultaneously, all variables have a significant effect with an R-Square value within 68.17%. This finding indicates that unemployment in West Java is influenced by the development of the industrial sector and socioeconomic conditions from the demand and supply side of labor.
