Powdery mildew disease caused by Podosphaera xanthii is one of the major constraints in melon cultivation in both tropical and subtropical regions. Disease management and plant growth enhancement can be achieved through the use of biological control agents, such as Bacillus velezensis B-27. This study aimed to evaluate the ability of B. velezensis B-27 to promote plant growth and suppress powdery mildew severity in melon plants. The study was conducted in a screen house and a greenhouse using a completely randomized design, with observations focused on vegetative and generative growth parameters, as well as disease intensity and incidence. The results showed that the application of B. velezensis B-27 at a density of 4,4x<!--[if gte msEquation 12]>10-8<![endif]--><!--[if !msEquation]--> <!--[endif]--> CFU/mL effectively reduced disease intensity and AUDPC values in melon plants grown in both greenhouse and screen house conditions, and reduced disease incidence in the screen house but not in the greenhouse. The treatment also increased plant height in the greenhouse but had no significant effect on the number of leaves. Under screen house conditions, the treatment did not affect vegetative growth; however, it increased fruit weight and fruit sweetness during the generative stage.
