tahap sintesis katalis nanopartikel melalui sintesis Fe2O3
(XRF), Diffuse Reflectance UV/Visible Spectroscopy (DR-UV/Vis),
dan Surface Area Analyzer (SAA). Tahap
This study aimed to
enhance the catalytic activity of Fe2O3 in the
heterogeneous photo-Fenton process by synthesizing Fe2O3
nanoparticles and applying them for the removal of hazardous Pb(II) ions from
aqueous solution at near-neutral pH. The study began with the synthesis of Fe2O3
nanoparticle catalyst using nyamplung seed shell (TBN) powder through a
precipitation method followed by calcination. The resulting Fe2O3/TBN
nanoparticle catalyst was characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Fluorescence
(XRF), Diffuse Reflectance Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (DR-UV/Vis), and Surface
Area Analysis (SAA). The heterogeneous photo-Fenton process was then carried
out in a batch system to investigate the effects of solution pH, catalyst
dosage, H?O? concentration, and irradiation time. The concentration of Pb(II)
ions during the photo-Fenton process was determined using Atomic Absorption
Spectroscopy (AAS), while the solid products formed after Pb(II) photooxidation
were further characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy.
The results showed that the synthesized Fe2O3/TBN nanoparticle catalyst was predominantly composed of the maghemite
(?-Fe2O3)
phase, accompanied by magnetite (Fe3O4) and hematite (?-Fe2O3) phases. In contrast, the Fe2O3 catalyst consisted
predominantly of the hematite (?-Fe2O3) phase. The synthesis of Fe2O3 within the TBN matrix reduced the crystallite size from 45.75 nm to
14.88 nm, accompanied by an increase in band gap energy (Eg) and a decrease in
the catalyst surface area. The heterogeneous photo-Fenton process using the
synthesized Fe2O3/TBN nanoparticle catalyst exhibited higher photooxidation efficiency
than that using the Fe2O3 catalyst and was also more effective than the homogeneous photo-Fenton
process. The optimum conditions were obtained at a solution pH of 7, a Fe2O3/TBN nanoparticle catalyst
dosage of 45 mg, an H2O2 concentration of 55 mmol L?¹,
and visible-light irradiation for 20 min. In addition, the photooxidation of
Pb(II) ions was confirmed to produce insoluble PbO2 as the oxidation
product.
