Social media, particularly TikTok, has become a space that not only disseminates information but also shapes how Generation Z perceives marriage, notably through the growing trend of "marriage is scary" content that portrays the negative sides of married life, such as infidelity, domestic violence, and domestic burdens. This study aims to identify the characteristics of "marriage is scary" content on TikTok and to analyze its implications for Generation Z's views and desire to marry. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, combining content analysis of 25 TikTok posts under the "marriage is scary" hashtag from July 2024 to July 2025 with semi structured in depth interviews involving 7 Generation Z informants aged 18-25, selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Stuart Hall's Representation Theory, the Second Demographic Transition theory, and the theory of the changing meaning of marriage. The findings show that "marriage is scary" content is dominated by seven main themes, with infidelity as the most prominent, and is conveyed through both emotionally negative and analytically negative tones. This content does not act as the sole cause of marriage-related anxiety, but rather as a social reinforcer of concerns already shaped by family experiences and immediate social environments. Exposure to this content encourages most informants to shift from a romantic-idealistic to a more realistic and critical outlook, without eliminating their desire to marry, but instead making it more selective and oriented toward holistic readiness. This study concludes that the relationship between social media content and Generation Z's marriage decisions is layered, shaped simultaneously by family experience, structural economic pressures, and digital narratives
