Tofu liquid waste is a liquid waste that contains high enough nutrients so that there are indigenous bacteria that are able to degrade organic compounds. One important ability that needs to be studied from isolated bacteria is the activity of amylolytic bacteria, namely bacteria that are able to produce amylase enzymes to hydrolyze starch into simpler sugars. This study aims to isolate and identify bacteria from tofu liquid waste and determine the ability of isolated bacteria to degrade starch in tofu liquid waste. Tofu liquid waste samples were taken and inoculated into media using Nutrient Agar media, so that indigenous bacterial isolates were obtained. Bacterial isolates were then identified based on morphological and biochemical characteristics, and analyzed for their ability to degrade starch. The results of the study obtained six bacterial isolates: one isolate of the genus Micrococcus, one isolate of the genus Bacillus, three isolates of the genus Staphylococcus, and one isolate of the genus Citrobacter. Among the six isolates, two isolates of the genus Bacillus and Staphylococcus are included in the amylolytic bacteria that can degrade starch.
