gastrointestinal (p value < 0>
Cats are one of the most popular pets currently in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. One important factor in cat care is paying attention to their health condition. Gastrointestinal nematode infection in cats is one of the most frequently found infections today. The general purpose of this study was to determine the infection incidence rate and the correlation of risk factors causing gastrointestinal nematode parasitic infection in shelter cats in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The methods used started with sample collection and examination using the centrifuge and McMaster methods, which took place from November to December 2025, followed by data collection and data analysis. The data analysis results from 56 samples showed that 17 samples were positively infected with gastrointestinal nematodiasis of the ascaris type (genus Toxocara sp.) and strongyle type (genus Ancylostoma sp.) with a total prevalence of 30.4%. The number of infections from the nematode genus Toxocara sp. was 15 samples (26.8%) and infections from the nematode genus Ancylostoma sp. was 2 samples (3.6%). The Chi-Square analysis results showed that the risk factors that played a significant role in gastrointestinal nematode infection (p-value < 0>
