Mrica reservoir, which is part of Panglima Besar Soedirman Dam, has been experiencing increasing sedimentation problems that have reduced its storage capacity and may consequently decrease the benefit provided by the reservoir, particularly as a hydroelectric power plant. Based on the 2025 bathymetric survey, the sedimentation rate entering Mrica Reservoir reached 3.769.194 m^3/ year, while the remaining storage capacity was only 12,69 milion m^3, or approximately 8,56% of initial storage capacity. This condotion indicates that sedimentation remains a major issue threatening the sustainability of reservoir operations.
The study aims to analyze the sedimentation rate and sediment management rate in Mrica Reservoir, develop optimal sediment management alternatives based on technical and economic aspects, and evaluate the reservoir performance condition affected by sedimentation. Economic analysis was conducted using the Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) method with Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C) and Net Benefit (B-C) as evaluation parameters. In addition, the technical assessment was carried out based on the Dam Performance Evaluation Guidelines stipulated in Circular Letter of the Directorate General of Water Resources Number 03/SE/D/2024.
The result showed that the volume of sediment successfully managed through flushing, dredging, and dry excavation methods was 2.283.072 m^3/ year, representing only 60,57% of the total sediment entering the reservoir. Therefore, three sediment management alternatives were developed and evaluated from both technical and economic perspectives. The analysis indicated that all aternatives were economically feasible, as they achieved a B/C ratio greater than 1 and a positive Net benefit (B-C). Alternatives 3 was identified as the recommended option, with a B/C ratio of 1,73, a Net Benefi of Rp2.265.084.944.675,52, and a sediment management capacity of approximately 3,7 million m^3/ year, enabling it to offset the annual sedimentation rate. This alternative combines flushing, dredging, and dry excavation methods, with dredged sediment being directly discharged downstream through a floating pipeline system. Furthermore, the reservoir performance assessment yielded a performance 84,80, which falls within the good category
