Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan koefisien variasi (CoV), One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), dan metode Simple Additive Weighting (SAW).

Coal mining activities generate runoff that is commonly treated using settling ponds to remove suspended solids through sedimentation. This sedimentation process results in the accumulation of sludge at the bottom of the pond. The management of settling pond sludge is still predominantly carried out using conventional methods, such as dredging and chemical coagulant addition. Electrocoagulation has emerged as an alternative treatment method that offers several advantages over conventional approaches. This method is capable of generating coagulants in situ and producing flocs that are more easily separated through filtration. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effects of electrode type and inter-electrode distance on turbidity, filtration rate, and energy consumption during the electrocoagulation treatment of coal mine settling pond sludge.

The study was conducted at a laboratory scale using a 1 L batch electrocoagulation reactor. The study used settling pond sludge adjusted to a TSS concentration of approximately 10,000 mg/L and an electrical conductivity of 3 mS/cm. Three electrode configurations were evaluated, namely Fe-Fe, Al-Al, and Fe-Al, with inter-electrode distances of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 cm. The electrocoagulation process was operated for 5 minutes at a constant voltage of 30 V. The resulting filtrate was analyzed based on turbidity and filtration rate, while energy consumption was used as a supporting parameter to assess process efficiency. Data analysis was performed using the Coefficient of Variation (CoV), One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method.

The results showed that variations in inter-electrode distance significantly affected turbidity, filtration rate, and energy consumption for each electrode type. The lowest turbidity value of 6.12 NTU was achieved using Al-Al electrodes at an inter-electrode distance of 1.5 cm, while the highest filtration rate of 0.35 ml/s was obtained using Fe-Al electrodes at a distance of 3 cm. In addition, the lowest energy consumption value of 5,21 kWh/m³ was achieved by Al-Al electrodes at a distance of 3 cm. Based on the SAW analysis, the Fe-Al electrode configuration with a 3 cm inter-electrode distance was identified as the optimum operating condition by considering turbidity, filtration rate, and specific energy consumption.
