The COVID-19 pandemic placed significant pressure on the banking sector due to the decline in borrowers' ability to fulfill their credit obligations. To maintain financial system stability and support business continuity, the government and banking authorities implemented a credit restructuring policy. Although this policy was intended to reduce default risk, credit restructuring may also affect the level of Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) in the banking industry. This study aims to examine the effect of credit restructuring on Non Performing Loans (NPLs) with bank size as a control variable in conventional commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the COVID 19 pandemic. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the annual reports and financial statements of conventional commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020 2024 period. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling method, resulting in 34 banks with a total of 170 observations. Data were analyzed using panel data regression. Model selection was conducted through the Chow Test and Hausman Test, indicating that the Fixed Effect Model was the most appropriate model. To obtain more reliable estimates, robust standard errors were applied. The results indicate that credit restructuring has a positive and significant effect on Non-Performing Loans (NPLs), with a coefficient value of 0.0430 and a significance level of 0.000. Meanwhile, bank size as a control variable has a negative but statistically insignificant effect on NPLs, with a significance level of 0.617. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination test shows a within R-squared value of 0.1721, indicating that credit restructuring and bank size explain 17.21% of the variation in NPLs, while the remaining 82.79% is explained by other factors outside the research model.
