Background: Response time is a critical factor for success in prehospital care, which is highly supported by the completeness of ambulance facilities. As an effort to improve the quality of prehospital care, the Technical Guidelines for the Integrated Emergency Response System (SPGDT) were established through the formation of the Public Safety Center (PSC) 119. PSC 119 ambulances have specific and more complex equipment as emergency ambulances. When ambulances are fully equipped and ready to respond without delay, they can reach patients more efficiently, achieving an optimal dan faster response time. However, the ambulance equipment completeness in Indonesia is often unevenly standardized, which delayed departure time.
Objective: To determine the relationship between the ambulance equipment completeness and the ambulance response time for emergency cases at the Public Safety Center (PSC) 119 YES, Yogyakarta City.
Method: this was a quantitative correlational observational study using a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 85 emergency cases handled by the PSC 119 YES Yogyakarta City ambulance during the period of April to May 2026. Data were collected using an observational checklist for ambulance equipment completeness and a response time observation sheet. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman’s rho test.
Result: The results showed that the overall ambulance equipment completeness had a mean score of 62.12 ± 0.32 out of a maximum of 84 items, with a minimum score of 62 and a maximum score of 63. The average ambulance response time was 11.89 minutes, with 77.6% of cases in good category (<15 p=0.452>0.05).
Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between the ambulance equipment completeness and the ambulance response time for emergency cases at PSC 119 YES, Yogyakarta City. Adding samples and research locations could also be considered to strengthen the representation and generalizability of the findings.
