Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease that remains a public health concern in many countries, including Indonesia. Cats, as companion animals, have the potential to be involved in the transmission cycle of leptospirosis because they frequently interact with humans and the domestic environment; however, a leptospirosis vaccine for cats is not yet available. This study aims to measure the incidence of leptospirosis in cats in Sleman Regency and to analyze the influence of owner factors, cat-intrinsic factors, and husbandry management on the occurrence of Leptospira infection, while identifying the most dominant risk factors. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data from 116 cats in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire administered to owners and serological testing using the Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) to detect Leptospira spp. antibodies. The sampling technique employed was non-probability sampling, specifically a purposive sampling method, in which the researcher selected the sample based on predetermined criteria. The study results showed that the incidence rate of leptospirosis in cats during the period from June to August 2025 was 10.34% (95% CI). Risk factor analysis revealed that several variables were significantly associated with the occurrence of infection, namely a history of kidney or liver disease (OR 8.333), the number of cats owned (OR 7.159), the presence of other animals such as dogs in the same household (OR 4.2), and living environment conditions (OR 1.387). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that there are cases of leptospirosis in cats in Sleman Regency, with a prevalence of 10.34%. Risk factors for leptospirosis include the cat’s health status and the likelihood of the animal coming into contact with other animals.
