Single cell protein (SCP) is an alternative protein source with potential use in sheep feed to reduce feed costs and improve production efficiency. Although the effects of SCP on growth performance and rumen fermentation parameters have been reported, information regarding its effects on the physiological responses of sheep remains limited. This study aimed to determine the effect of supplementing single cell protein at 7.5% of the total concentrate as a replacement for soybean meal in the diet of thin tailed sheep on respiratory rate, heart rate, and body temperature, which were measured before and after the morning feeding.. The study used 10 male thin tailed sheep aged 8–12 months with body weight ranging from 22 to 23 kg, which were divided into two treatment groups. All sheep were fed a diet consisting of 75% forage and 25% concentrate ad libitum. The control group (P0) received a concentrate containing 88% pollard, 12% soybean meal, and 0% single cell protein. The treatment group (P1) received a concentrate containing 84.5% pollard, 8% soybean meal, and 7.5% single cell protein. The effect of diet type on the average respiratory rate was not significant (P = 0.112; P > 0.05), nor was its effect on heart rate (P = 0.686; P > 0.05) and body temperature (P = 0.116; P > 0.05). It can be concluded that the inclusion of single cell protein at 7.5% as a replacement for soybean meal in the concentrate feed of thin tailed sheep did not have any negative effects on the physiological parameters of the animals, including respiratory rate, pulse rate, and rectal temperature.
