1. Background

Pregnancy causes changes in the immune system that increase the risk of infection and worsen Covid-19 symptoms (Tarore et al., 2022). SARS-CoV-2 infection triggers inflammation, which contributes to disease severity (Indra et al., 2022. The Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII) is an inflammatory marker that correlates with the severity of COVID-19 and can predict patient prognosis (Ali et al., 2023). This study analyzes differences in SII values in pregnant women with varying degrees of COVID-19 severity, with COVID-19 severity as the independent variable and SII values as the dependent variable.

2. Objective

To evaluate differences in Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII) Values in Pregnant Women with Varying Degrees of COVID-19 Severity.

3. Method

This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design to determine the differences in SII values in pregnant patients with varying degrees of COVID-19 infection at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital, Surakarta. The independent variable in this study is Pregnant Women with varying degrees of COVID-19 severity and the dependent variable is SII.

4. Statistical Analysis

Statistical analysis began with a normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk test. A comparative test was then conducted to assess differences in SII index values between pregnant women with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 infection and those with severe-to-critical infection. If the data were normally distributed, an independent t-test was used; otherwise, the Mann-Whitney test was applied.
