The declining productivity of mature oil and gas fields in Indonesia demands a more accurate and adaptive approach to reservoir fluid identification. This study integrates the Gas Oil Water Scanner (GOWS) method, derived from the Mahakam Integrated Fluid Interpretation (MIFI) technique, with machine learning algorithms to classify reservoir fluids in the "CH" Field, South Sumatra Basin. The study focuses on the Baturaja and Talang Akar Formations using open hole log data, OH-MDT, and production data from six wells obtained from PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan – Zone 4. The workflow begins with log pre-conditioning and petrophysical parameter calculations, including shale volume (Vsh) and effective porosity (?e), which are subsequently used as input for the GOWS method. Fluid classification is carried out in two stages. Stage 1 separates water zones from hydrocarbon zones using Random Forest and XGBoost algorithms optimized through Optuna-based hyperparameter tuning. Stage 2 further distinguishes oil from gas using a rule-based cutoff approach derived from GOWS parameters. The XGBoost model demonstrated the best performance on blind test data, achieving an accuracy 0,980, F1-weighted 0,979, F1-macro (average per well) 0,981, F1-macro (multi-class wells) 0,974, and Cohen’s kappa 0,962. Feature importance analysis revealed that resistivity (RD, RGBE, RPBE) and density (DNS) parameters were the most influential features in fluid classification. Application of the model across all goodquality reservoir intervals identified unproduced hydrocarbon potential with an estimated thickness of 39.62 m of oil and 10.66 m of gas, indicating opportunities for further reservoir development in the "CH" Field.
