Supernova Karya Dewi Lestari :: Analisis struktur naratif

Penelitian berjudul “Supernova Karya Dewi Lestari: Analisis Struktur Naratif” ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur novel tersebut dan menyajikan sebuah alternatif pemaknaan dengan menggunakan tinjauan terhadap psikologi tokohtokoh ceritanya. Sesuai dengan tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dengan teori struktur naratif menurut Chatman dan teori bantu psikologi kepribadian Jung untuk mendeskripsikan dan memaknai Supernova. Langkah-langkah yang ditempuh adalah menentukan sekuen-sekuen baik kernel maupun satelit. Berdasar sekuen-sekuen tersebut diidentifikasi urutan wacana, urutan cerita secara kronologis dan logis. Analisis eksisten meliputi korelasi antara waktu cerita dan waktu wacana. Korelasi tersebut tampak dalam tatanan, durasi, dan frekuensi yang didata (dalam tabel) berdasar sekuen yang ada. Langkah berikutnya, karakter dan setting yang merupakan bagian dari struktur naratif diidentifikasi. Hasil identifikasi tokoh cerita dan karakternya ini selanjutnya dianalisis dengan teori kepribadian menurut Jung yang dirumuskan oleh Mamchur ( 1984 ) dalam instrumen tes yang dikenal sebagai the instant insight inventory. Dari hasil analisis ini dapat terindentifikasi karakter tokoh sebagai pembanding dan pelengkap hasil analisis karakter berdasar kajian strukturalnya untuk merumuskan makna Supernova. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Supernova yang terdiri atas 203 sekuen (narrative event units) secara keseluruhan merupakan ringkasan karena waktu cerita lebih panjang dari waktu wacana, tetapi bentuk relasi korelasi waktu cerita dan waktu wacana yang dominan adalah adegan (69%). Aspek tatanan yang paling dominan adalah prolipsis / alur maju (55%) dan aspek frekuensi yang paling dominan adalah multiple singular (48%). Karakter tokoh menunjukkan bahwa ada pergeseran / perubahan tipe kepribadian yang perlu untuk bertransformasi dari karakter konvensional (sesuai mitos) ke karakter baru yang responsif dan fleksibel, sesuai dengan dinamika perkembangan zaman.

This thesis entitled “Supernova Written by Dewi Lestari: Narrative-Structure Analysis” aims to describe the novel structure and presents an alternative of meaning by using a review to the psychology of the characters in the story. Based on the aims, the researcher adopts narrative structure analysis according to Chatman as the research method and supported by theory of personality psychology to describe and explain Supernova. The steps followed are to determine the sequences both kernel and satellite. On the ground of the sequences the researcher identifies the order of discourse, the order of story chronologically and logically. Existent analysis consists of the correlation between the time of the story and the time of the discourse. The correlation appears in story arrangement, duration, and frequency that are encoded (in the table) based on the available sequences. The next step deals with character and setting which are also the parts of the identification of the narrative structure. Later on, the identification result of the story characters and their figures are analysed by personality theory of Jung’s which is formulated by Manchur ( 1984 ) in a test instrument known as the instant insight inventory. From the result analysis, the researcher can identify the figure of the character as the comparison and complement of the character-analysis result based on its structural review to formulate the meaning of Supernova. The result of this research indicates that Supernova, which is composed of 203 sequences (narrative event units) wholly, is included as summary because the story time longer than the discourse time, but the form of the relation between the correlation of the story time and discourse time are dominated by scene (69%). The arrangement aspect is dominated by prolepsis or forward plot (55%) and the dominant frequency aspect is multiple singular (48%). The figure of the characters show that there is a movement of personality type which is needed to transform from conventional characters (made up by myth) to new characters which are responsive and flexible based upon the dynamic of the era evolution.
