This study examines the factors influencing Generation Z consumers’ switching intention from fast fashion to slow fashion due to perceived greenwashing, using the Push-Pull-Mooring (PPM) Model. This study reveals the micro-level psychological mechanism of how perceived greenwashing not only triggers dissatisfaction as a push factor, but also weakens the attractiveness of alternative brands as a pull factor due to the negative spillover effect and mass skepticism in the market. Using PLS-SEM analysis of 291 respondents in Indonesia, the findings show that perceived greenwashing has no direct effect on switching intention, but operates through a full mediation mechanism involving dissatisfaction and alternative attractiveness. Furthermore, high switching costs as a mooring factor are proven to weaken consumers’ intention to switch. In conclusion, cognitive awareness of perceived greenwashing requires an emotional response to trigger switching intention. Therefore, fast fashion brands need to avoid greenwashing practices and develop transparent sustainability communication, while slow fashion brands should strengthen authentic credibility and minimize consumers’ switching barriers.
