The Kamojang Geothermal Field is one of the oldest and most extensively developed geothermal fields in Indonesia, characterized by complex volcanic hill morphology and topography. Detailed topographic mapping in geothermal areas is essential for understanding surface morphology, drainage patterns, and identifying morphological lineaments that may be associated with geological structures. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the topographic and morphological characteristics of the area using high-resolution UAV LiDAR data, compare the topographic representation of the LiDAR-derived DEM with the National Digital Elevation Model (DEMNAS), examine surface flow patterns and stream networks, and identify the distribution and orientation of lineaments.
The UAV LiDAR point cloud data were acquired by the PGE Kamojang team from September 22 to October 4, 2025, and processed using DJI Terra and CloudCompare to generate a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with a spatial resolution of 0.5 m. DEMNAS data with a spatial resolution of 8.68 m were used as a reference dataset to evaluate differences in topographic representation. Topographic and hydrological derivatives were analyzed using a Geographic Information System (GIS), while lineament orientations were evaluated using rose diagrams based on endpoint coordinates in RockWorks to determine the dominant structural trends.
The results indicate that the study area is dominated by Very Steep (36.89%) and Steep (34.23%) slope classes, within an elevation range of 1,282.21–1,685.26 m. The LiDAR-derived DEM represents surface morphology more accurately than DEMNAS, with elevation differences reaching 30–50 m, particularly in valley zones. Hydrological modeling produced a stream network with a maximum stream order of 8 and a dominant flow direction toward the west to northwest, ultimately draining into the Citarum River in Majalaya District. Lineament analysis identified 57 lineaments with a dominant WNW–ESE orientation, followed by a secondary N–S trend and a minor NE–SW trend, with the highest concentration corresponding to a maximum kernel density value of 9.39. The distribution and intersection of the WNW–ESE and N–S lineament sets indicate zones of high permeability that may control hydrothermal fluid migration within the Kamojang geothermal system.
