As a multinational corporation operating in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, Unilever Indonesia performs strategic linguistic actions through corporate discourse as an outcome of the organizational commitments of the firm. This study aims to examine the pragmatic aspects of corporate communication within the Unilever Indonesia Sustainability Report 2024 by applying John Searle’s Speech Act Theory (1969). Through a pragmatic lens, the selected sections for analysis namely: Theme Explanation, Growth Action Plan, Remarks of the Board of Directors, and Important Events since these parts have rich narrative, evaluative, and strategic elements, which demonstrate the intentions behind the organization’s communication. Through the analysis, there were a total of 139 speech acts, which were divided into assertive (50), commissive (37), expressive (25), declarative (15), and directive (12). Illocutionary Force Indicating Devices (IFIDS) such as performative verbs and word order were utilized to identify the illocutionary force. Assertive acts dominate by establishing factual credibility through quantified achievements and third-party endorsements. Commissive acts obligate the corporation to future sustainability objectives, while declarative acts establish policies and governance structures. Expressive acts, in turn, humanize communication by emphasizing empathy and shared values, and directive acts position Unilever Indonesia as a driver of social transformation. Therefore, this study concludes that the 2024 Sustainability Report serves as a carefully designed communication tool, intended to influence public opinion and strengthen the company's commitment to social responsibility. This study demonstrates that sustainability reporting functions not merely as an informational document, but also as a strategic rhetorical instrument for stakeholders’ trust.
