The research focuses on a pragmatic analysis of the Nestlé Sustainability Report 2024 to identify the persuasive tools used in corporate communication. The disclosure of non-financial information, especially via Sustainability Reports, has emerged as a critical tool in strategic corporate communication. This sustainability report is a platform used by a corporate to communicate with stakeholders globally, conveying their commitment and accountability. The major aim of the research is to identify and describe the pragmatic role of the illocutionary acts identified by Searle (1979), namely Representative, Commissive, Directive, and Expressive, within the strategic part of the reporting document. This is achieved by a descriptive qualitative research design that applies the concept of Speech Acts. Following the initial classification, the data is further analyzed using the Impression Management Strategy framework developed by Jones and Pittman (1982) to uncover the self-presentational tactics included in the discourse. Analysis has shown that there is a clear connection between the use of language instruments and strategy, where the high rate of Representative and Commissive Speech Acts serves as the functional basis for Self-Promotion and Exemplification strategy construction. Through the use of the Reputation Quotient framework, this study reveals how Nestlé carefully selects its linguistic choices to prioritize the dimensions of ‘Vision & Leadership’ and ‘Social & Environmental Responsibility’. By combining these linguistic aspects, Nestlé successfully constructs its identity as “The Responsible Food Industry Leader,” proving that the company’s strategic narrative is a carefully designed linguistic construct to strengthen its institutional identity.
