First-year students living away from home are highly vulnerable to homesickness, characterized by intense longing for home and loved ones. Various internal and external factors may influence homesickness among students living away from home, including emotional maturity and peer social support. This study aimed to examine the role of emotional maturity and peer social support in homesickness among first-year students living away from home. A quantitative non-experimental design with a non-probability sampling technique was used. A total of 215 first-year students living away from home aged 18—21 years participated in this study. The instruments used included Skala Kematangan Emosi, Social Provisions Scale, and Skala Homesickness. The results of the multiple regression analysis revealed that emotional maturity and peer social support simultaneously had a significant negative effect on homesickness among first-year students living away from home, F(2, 212) = 48.2, R² = 0.306, p < 0.001. However, the partial analysis indicated that only emotional maturity had a significant negative effect on homesickness, whereas peer social support did not show a significant effect. These results suggest that internal factors play a greater role than external factors in influencing homesickness among first-year students living away from home.
