Peran Harga Diri dan Interaksi Parasosial dengan Selebriti terhadap Citra Tubuh pada Mahasiswa

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran harga diri dan interaksi parasosial dengan selebriti terhadap citra tubuh pada mahasiswa. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, sebanyak 158 mahasiswa berpartisipasi dalam survei ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan skala Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Subscale (MBSRQ-AS), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), dan Celebrity-Persona Parasocial Interaction Scale (CPPI) versi bahasa Indonesia. Analisis regresi linier berganda menunjukkan bahwa harga diri dan interaksi parasosial sama-sama secara signifikan memengaruhi citra tubuh mahasiswa dengan kontribusi sebesar 30,1%. Namun, secara parsial, hanya harga diri yang menunjukkan peran signifikan dalam memprediksi citra tubuh. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan citra tubuh lebih dipengaruhi oleh variabel psikologis internal daripada interaksi dengan selebriti melalui media.

This study aims to examine the role of self-esteem and parasocial interaction with celebrities on body image among college students. Using a quantitative approach, a total of 158 college students participated in this survey. This study utilized the Indonesian versions of the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Subscale (MBSRQ-AS), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and the Celebrity-Persona Parasocial Interaction (CPPI). Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that both self-esteem and parasocial interaction significantly influenced students' body image, accounting for 30.1% of the variance. However, when analyzed separately, only self-esteem demonstrated a significant role in predicting body image. These results suggest that the development of body image is more influenced by internal psychological variables than by interactions with celebrities through the media.
