Teknologi
Alat uji impak proyekti dirancang
yakni barrel, proyektil ball bullet 6 mm, solenoid valve,
loadcell, analog to digital converter (ADC)
ADS1256, dan mikrokontroler ESP32 sebagai sistem perekam fenomena impak. Ruang
Sandwich
structure technology produced using Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes based
on polymer filaments and 3D-printed cellular or lattice-based cores is capable
of delivering high energy absorption performance. Dynamic load testing, such as
gas gun impact tests with impact recording features that simulate high-velocity
impacts and oblique impact tests on sandwich panels, are crucial steps in
determining the impact resistance performance of 3D-printed sandwich panels
under a wide range of conditions. This research aims to design and build a
projectile impact tester that utilizes the gas gun method and oblique impact
feature at an affordable price.
The
projectile impact tester is designed with three segments: a launcher system, an
impact detection system, and an impact chamber. The launcher system uses a gas
gun with the main components being a barrel, a 6mm ball bullet projectile, a
solenoid valve, a pressure sensor that reads the gas gun's working pressure
connected to a compressor, a speed sensor, and an electrical system. The impact
detection system uses a load cell, an ADS1256 analog-to-digital converter
(ADC), and an ESP32 microcontroller to record the impact phenomenon. The impact
chamber is constructed using an aluminum frame and plate assembly, an acrylic
plate, and an evamat, that provides an oblique impact features. The impact
specimens to be tested are made of Polylactic Acid (PLA) with a 15?nsity
honeycomb infill. Testing begins with a calibration process, followed by
performance testing of each component of the device and testing of the impact
specimen.
This
research resulted in a projectile impact tester with a control system for
projectile velocity variations from 1 to 6 bar, an impact detection system that
records impact force values ??along with an impact force data processing
application, and an oblique testing system with a sliding plate adjustment
feature in the impact chamber. Through the calibration and performance testing
process, it was found that increasing working pressure increases projectile
velocity by approximately 26 to 66 m/s, a value that remains constant when
varying the impact angle. The projectile velocity is known to be slower than
the theoretical projectile velocity, which is around 45% due to flow losses in
the launcher system. The shorter the distance between the inner wall of the
impact chamber and the point of impact ricochet with repetitive test, will
increase the damage to the impact chamber Eva mat wall so that it is necessary
to replace the mate if the damage is more severe. The performance of the impact
recording system needs to be considered by replacing the microcontroller and
ADC with higher data readings in order to read the impact response in more
detail. In testing PLA sandwich panel specimens, the impact angle affects the
transmitted force value and the panel damage pattern where the increase in the
impact angle affects the increase in the transmitted force value on the
specimen and also changes the panel damage behavior from only surface
indentation to causing the projectile to be partially embedded in the specimen
surface.
