Industri perbankan mengalami perkembangan dan perubahan yang luar biasa, mulai dari deregulasi sampai regulasi kembali berbagai ketentuan/peraturan yang membawa perbankan ke tataran yang lebih prudent. Terbitnya Arsitektur Perbankan Indonesia (API) yang merupakan cetak biru perbankan Indonesia, merupakan perubahan lingkungan bisnis yang harus disikapi dan ditindak lanjuti. Selain perubahan di lingkungan bisnis perbankan, perkembangan teknologi, siklus hidup produk perbankan yang semakin pendek, persaingan yang makin ketat di dalam usaha mencari nasabah, memicu perbankan meredefinisikan kembali strategi bisnisnya, termasuk mereformulasi visi dan misi nya. Menyadari pentingnya visi di dalam mencapai tujuan perusahaan, selayaknya proses reformulasi visi dilakukan secara strategik. Framework Schoemaker membantu mencapai proses strategic visioning tersebut menjadi lebih baik. Melakukan analisis skenario, analisis kompetitif dan segmentasi bisnis, mengenali core capabilities internal perusahaan sampai strategic visioning merupakan langkah-langkah strategik dalam mereformulasi visi untuk mendapatkan visi yang lebih tepat, visioner dan bertahan lama.

Banking industry had changed dramatically, starting from deregulation and back to regulate more rules and procedures to make banking industry strong and more prudent. Central Bank introduced Indonesian Banking Industry’s Blue Print (Arsitektur Perbankan Indonesia), which was known as the factors of big changes in banking business environment that should be properly managed with strategic actions. Despite of changes in banking business environment itself, technology advancement, shorter life of banking product life cycle, tougher competition had made banking industry to redefine their business strategies, as well as to reformulate their vision and mission. Realized the important of visioning, we should put more attention in visioning process to keep it in the right track, well planned and strategically managed. Schoemaker’s framework was designed to achieve more planned strategic visioning. Scenario analysis, competitive analysis with business segmentation, core capabilities analysis and strategic visioning are the steps in strategic visioning to get a visionary vision and also enduring vision.
