POLISEMI LEKSEM HEART DAN PROBLEMATIKA PENERJEMAHANNYA DALAM BAHASA INDONESIA

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang mengkaji tentang polisemi leksem heart. Dalam linguistik, polisemi adalah fenomena penting yang berfokus pada pemahaman kompleksitas dan aneka makna suatu kata yang saling terkait. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi, pencatatan, dan dokumentasi menggunakan korpus linguistik, AntConc Corpus Analysis Toolkit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji dan mendeskripsikan aneka arti polisemi leksem heart, mendeskripsikan problematika penerjemahan polisemi leksem heart dalam bahasa Indonesia, dan mendeskripsikan faktor sosial dan kultural yang mempengaruhi penerjemahan polisemi leksem heart yang terdapat dalam tujuh novel Harry Potter dan kamus daring Oxford. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat variasi aneka makna polisemi leksem heart yaitu makna literal yang mengacu pada organ tubuh, sedangkan secara figuratif, heart diasosiasikan dengan perasaan, emosional, semangat, inti atau pusat dan idiomatik. Ragam makna ini menggambarkan tingkat kompleksitas yang tinggi dalam penafsiran, yang dapat membingungkan pembaca atau pendengar jika tidak dianalisis sesuai konteks. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan pemahaman tentang polisemi leksem heart, menjadi referensi untuk penelitian lebih lanjut di bidang kajian semantik dan polisemi, membantu pengembangan bahan ajar, serta membantu pembelajar bahasa Inggris memahami makna-makna perluasan dari heart dalam berbagai konteks komunikasi.

This research is a qualitative descriptive study that examines the polysemy of the lexeme "heart." In linguistics, polysemy is an important phenomenon that focuses on understanding the complexity and various meanings of a word that are interconnected. The research data were collected through observation, note-taking, and documentation techniques using the linguistic corpus, AntConc Corpus Analysis Toolkit. The objectives of this study are to examine and describe the various meanings of the polysemy of the lexeme "heart," describe the translation problems of the polysemy of the lexeme "heart" into Indonesian, and describe the social and cultural factors that influence the translation issues of the polysemy of the lexeme "heart" in the seven Harry Potter novels and Oxford online dictionary. The findings indicate that there are variations in the meanings of the polysemy of the lexeme "heart," including the literal meaning referring to the organ, while figuratively, "heart" is associated with feelings, emotions, the core or center, and idiomatic expressions. These variations reflect a high level of complexity in interpretation, which can confuse readers or listeners if not analyzed in a specific context. The purpose of this research is to contribute to enhancing the understanding of the polysemy of the lexeme "heart," serve as a reference for further research in the fields of semantics and polysemy, assist in the development of teaching materials, and help English language learners comprehend the extended meanings of "heart" in various communication contexts.
