THE GROWTH AND HEALTH OF JUVENILE LEOPARD GECKOS FED WITH PURPLE SWEET POTATO GUT-LOADED CRICKETS

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati pengaruh pemberian jangkrik yang digut loading dengan ubi ungu (Ipomoea batatas) terhadap kesehatan dan pertumbuhan leopard gecko remaja (Eublepharis macularius). Sebanyak 14 ekor leopard gecko dengan morph Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail (SHTCT) berumur empat bulan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hewan penelitian dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Kelompok pertama (T1) diberi pakan jangkrik yang telah dilakukan gut loading menggunakan ubi ungu, sedangkan kelompok kedua (T0) diberi jangkrik tanpa perlakuan gut loading. Semua leopard gecko dipelihara secara individual selama 56 hari. Variabel yang diamati meliputi performa pertumbuhan dan kondisi kesehatan. Data performa pertumbuhan dianalisis menggunakan One Way ANOVA, sedangkan data kondisi kesehatan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertambahan panjang tubuh, panjang ekor, lebar kepala, dan bobot badan pada kelompok T1 dan T0 masing-masing adalah 0,02±0,00 dan 0,02±0,00 cm/hari; 0,02±0,03 dan 0,02±0,00 cm/hari; 0,19±0,05 dan 0,21±0,04 mm/minggu; serta 0,13±0,01 dan 0,14±0,02 g/hari. This study aimed to observe the effect of purple sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) gut-loaded crickets on the health and growth of juvenile leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius). Fourteen heads of four months of age of Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail (SHTCT) morph leopard geckos were used in this study. They were divided into two groups. The first group (T1) were fed with purple sweet potato gut-loaded crickets while the second group (T0) were fed with unfed crickets. They were raised individually for 56 days. The variables observed included growth performance and health condition. The growth performances data was analysed using one-way ANOVA, whereas the health condition data was analysed descriptively. The results showed that body length, tail length, head width, and body weight gain of T1 and T0 were 0.02±0.00 and 0.02±0.00 cm/day, 0.02±0.03 and 0.02±0.00 cm/day, 0.19±0.05 and 0.21±0.04 mm/week, 0.13±0.01 and 0.14±0.02 g/day, respectively.
