Penelitian ini mengkaji determinan partisipasi aktif individu Muslim di lembaga amal dalam konteks lintas negara. Menggunakan pendekatan Instrumental Variable Probit (IV Probit) pada data World Values Survey (WVS) gelombang satu hingga tujuh, penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh religiusitas, sosial-ekonomi serta variabel makroekonomi dan geografis terhadap partisipasi aktif individu Muslim di lembaga amal. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa religiusitas memiliki pengaruh kausal yang signifikan terhadap partisipasi aktif individu dalam lembaga amal. Pengaruh ini lebih kuat dibandingkan hasil regresi Probit biasa setelah memperhitungkan potensi endogenitas. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada literatur filantropi Islam dengan menegaskan pentingnya religiusitas sebagai determinan utama perilaku amal, serta mendukung pentingnya penguatan institusi keagamaan dan nilai sosial dalam mendorong partisipasi masyarakat.

This study investigates the determinants of Muslim individuals’ active participation in charitable organizations using a cross-country empirical approach. Utilizing the Instrumental Variable Probit (IV-Probit) method applied to the World Values Survey (WVS) data from waves one to seven, the analysis explores the causal influence of religiosity, socio-economic, macroeconomic and geographic variables on the active participation of Muslim individuals in charitable institutions. The findings indicate a significant causal effect of religiosity on participation, with stronger effects observed under IV-Probit estimation compared to standard Probit, which controls for potential endogeneity. This study contributes to Islamic philanthropy literature by highlighting the pivotal role of religiosity in shaping altruistic behavior, underlining the importance of strengthening religious institutions and social values to enhance civic engagement.
