Mount Merapi is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, posing a high disaster risk to surrounding communities. Therefore, providing accessible and comprehensible spatial information is crucial to support disaster mitigation efforts. This study aims to develop a web-based geographic information system (WebGIS) called SiagaMerapi, which presents information on volcanic hazard-prone areas and mitigation strategies in Sleman Regency. The system was developed using Laravel as the backend framework, ReactJS as the frontend, PostgreSQL as the spatial database, and Leaflet for interactive map visualization.
The main features of the SiagaMerapi Website include maps of volcanic hazard-prone areas, evacuation routes, shelter locations, real-time status of Mount Merapi, news, and mitigation information. The system also integrates spatial analysis, including distance calculation using the Haversine formula, shortest path search with Dijkstra’s algorithm via OSRM API, and distribution analysis of evacuation shelters using Heatmap. The testing results indicate that all features functioned as designed, and usability testing with 21 respondents produced an average score 4.77/5, categorized as very good.
In conclusion, the SiagaMerapi Website was successfully developed in accordance with the research objectives, providing an interactive, informative, and useful WebGIS platform to support Mount Merapi disaster mitigation for both the public and decision-makers.
