Analisis Keberlanjutan Sosial dan Ekonomi Destinasi Pariwisata Olahraga: Studi Kasus Sirkuit Mandalika, Lombok

Penelitian ini mengkaji keberlanjutan sosial dan ekonomi dengan studi kasus pada kawasan Sirkuit Mandalika, Lombok. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan sejauh mana aspek pemberdayaan masyarakat, mitigasi sosial, penguatan UMKM, dan penciptaan lapangan kerja mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan dalam konteks pembangunan pariwisata olahraga. Penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penghambat keberlanjutan yang muncul selama proses pembangunan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pembangunan Sirkuit Mandalika berhasil mendorong pertumbuhan infrastruktur dan menarik perhatian global, keberlanjutan sosial dan ekonomi belum sepenuhnya terwujud. Partisipasi masyarakat dalam perencanaan masih terbatas dan bersifat simbolik, sementara program pemberdayaan belum merata, serta cenderung sektoral. Dari sisi ekonomi, manfaat pariwisata lebih banyak dinikmati oleh pelaku usaha besar, dan penciptaan lapangan kerja masih bersifat temporer. Faktor penghambat utama keberlanjutan meliputi kurangnya komunikasi dan konsultasi yang inklusif antara pihak pengelola dan warga lokal, pelatihan yang diselenggarakan belum optimal, masuknya tenaga kerja dari luar daerah serta lemahnya koordinasi antarlembaga pemerintah juga memperlambat respons terhadap kebutuhan sosial-ekonomi masyarakat lokal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan Mandalika belum mampu memberikan distribusi manfaat yang adil dan pemenuhan hak-hak dasar bagi masyarakat lokal. Secara konseptual, studi ini menegaskan pentingnya pendekatan partisipatif dan inklusif untuk memastikan keberlanjutan jangka panjang destinasi pariwisata olahraga. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti perlunya reformulasi strategi kebijakan agar pembangunan kawasan Mandalika tidak hanya berorientasi pada kesuksesan event, tetapi juga memperkuat keadilan sosial dan kemandirian ekonomi masyarakat lokal.

This study examines social and economic sustainability with a case study on the Mandalika Circuit area, Lombok. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research aims to explain the extent to which community empowerment, social mitigation, MSMEs strengthening, and job creation reflect sustainability principles in the context of sport tourism development. The study also identifies the inhibiting factors of sustainability that emerged during the development process. The findings indicate that although the development of the Mandalika Circuit has successfully driven infrastructure growth and attracted global attention, social and economic sustainability has not been fully achieved. Community participation in planning remains limited and largely symbolic, while empowerment programs are uneven and tend to be sectoral. On the economic side, tourism benefits are predominantly captured by large-scale businesses, and job creation remains temporary. Key obstacles to sustainability include the lack of inclusive communication and consultation between project developers and local communities, suboptimal training programs, the influx of labor from outside the region, and weak intergovernmental coordination, which hampers timely responses to local socio-economic needs. The results show that Mandalika’s development has not yet succeeded in ensuring equitable distribution of benefits or fulfilling the basic rights of local communities. Conceptually, this study highlights the importance of participatory and inclusive approaches to ensure the long-term sustainability of sport tourism destinations. It also emphasizes the need for a reformulation of policy strategies so that the development of the Mandalika area is not solely event-oriented but also strengthens social equity and the economic independence of local communities.
