ANALISIS PENGARUH KARAKTERISTIK TENAGA KERJA TERHADAP KEBERHASILAN PROYEK KONSTRUKSI DENGAN METODE PARTIAL LEAST SQUARES STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING (PLS-SEM)

Keberhasilan proyek konstruksi merupakan tujuan utama yang ingin dicapai oleh pemangku kepentingan dalam industri konstruksi. Salah satu faktor penting yang berkontribusi terhadap tercapainya keberhasilan tersebut adalah karakteristik tenaga kerja baik dari aspek karakter pribadi maupun kompetensi professional. Namun, saat ini masih sedikit penelitian yang mengkaji secara komprehensif bagaimana pengaruh karakteristik tersebut terhadap pencapaian keberhasilan proyek konstruksi. Dengan demikian, tujuan penelitian ini mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor karakter tenaga kerja dan kompetensi tenaga kerja serta faktor keberhasilan proyek konstruksi, menganalisis variabel yang paling dominan memengaruhi keberhasilan proyek konstruksi, dan menilai perbedaan persepsi antar kelompok responden terhadap ketiga variabel tersebut. Pendekatan kuantitatif diterapkan dalam penelitian ini dengan memanfaatkan metode analisis Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran 674 kuesioner dan didapatkan 545 kuesioner valid yang berasal dari responden yang terlibat langsung dalam proyek konstruksi seperti pemilik/owner, perencana, kontraktor, dan pengawas. Kuesioner disusun berdasarkan hasil studi literatur dan divalidasi oleh lima expert melalui wawancara semi terstruktur. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan perangkat lunak SmartPLS 4 yang mencakup uji asumsi dan evaluasi dilakukan terhadap model pengukuran (outer model) dan model structural (inner model). Temuan dalam penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa baik karakter maupun kompetensi tenaga kerja memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keberhasilan proyek konstruksi. Kompetensi tenaga kerja menjadi variabel yang paling dominan dalam menentukan kesuksesan proyek konstruksi dengan nilai koefisien jalur sebesar 0,62 dibandingkan karakter tenaga kerja dengan nilai koefisien jalur sebesar 0,11. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa persepsi antar kelompok responden seperti antara pemilik proyek/owner dan kontraktor menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan terhadap pentingnya variabel keberhasilan proyek konstruksi. Temuan yang diperoleh dapat digunakan sebagai landasan pertimbangan bagi para praktisi industri untuk pengambilan keputusan strategis terkait pengelolaan tenaga kerja serta memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan kebijakan peningkatan produktivitas dan efisiensi di sektor kontruksi.
The success of a construction project is the primary goal that stakeholders in the construction industry strive to achieve. One of the key contributing factors to this success is the characteristics of the workforce, encompassing both personal traits and professional competencies. However, there is currently a limited number of studies that comprehensively examine how these characteristics influence the achievement of construction project success.Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors related to worker characteristics and competencies, as well as success of a construction project factors, to analyze the most dominant variables influencing success of a construction project, and to assess the differences in perception among respondent groups regarding these three variables. A quantitative approach is applied in this research using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. Data collection was carried out through the distribution of 674 questionnaires, with 545 valid responses obtained from individuals directly involved in construction projects, such as owners, planners, contractors, and supervisors. The questionnaire was developed based on a literature review and validated by five experts through semi-structured interviews. Data analysis was performed using SmartPLS 4 software, which included assumption test and evaluations of both the measurement model (outer model) and the structural model (inner model). The findings of this study indicate that both the character and competence of the workforce have a significant influence on the success of construction projects. Workforce competence emerged as the most dominant variable in determining project success, with an path coefficient value of 0.62, compared to workforce character, which had a value of 0.11. In addition, the study revealed significant differences in perceptions among respondent groups, particularly between project owners and contractors, regarding the importance of variables related to project success. These findings may serve as a basis for strategic decision-making by industry practitioners in managing the workforce, as well as contribute to the development of policies aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency in the construction sector.
