PRODUKTIVITAS, KANDUNGAN NUTRISI, DAN KECERNAAN SECARA IN VITRO TEFF GRASS (Eragrostis tef) PADA UMUR POTONG DAN PERTUMBUHAN KEMBALI YANG BERBEDA

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui, mengidentifikasi, dan menganalisa produktivitas, kandungan nutrien, dan kecernaan secara in vitro teff grass pada umur potong dan pertumbuhan kembali yang berbeda. Rancangan percobaan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Split Plot Design Cross-over yang terdiri atas dua faktor, yaitu umur potong (30, 45, dan 60 HST) sebagai main plot (whole periods) dan regrowth (Pemotongan pertama, Regrowth 1, dan Regrowth 2) sebagai sub plot (sub periods). Penelitian ini terdiri atas 3 kali ulangan pada setiap perlakuan. Hasil dan pembahasan menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh interaksi yang nyata (P<0>grass kecuali diameter batang. Pengaruh yang nyata (P<0>grass meliputi kandungan BK, BO, PK, SK, LK, dan BETN. Kecernaan nutrien secara in vitro teff grass tidak memberikan pengaruh interaksi tetapi terdapat pengaruh yang nyata (P<0>grass dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap produktivitas, kandungan nutrien, dan kecernaan secara in vitro. Umur pemotongan 60 HST menghasilkan produktivitas hijauan tertinggi pada pemotongan pertama akan tetapi terjadi penurunan produksi pada fase pertumbuhan kembali yang juga terjadi pada 45 HST, sedangkan umur pemotongan 30 HST memberikan hasil yang relatif stabil mulai dari pemotongan pertama hingga pertumbuhan kembali terhadap produksi tanaman.

The objective of this study was to determine, identify, and analyze the productivity, nutrient content, and in vitro digestibility of teff grass at different cutting ages and regrowth rates. The experimental design employed in this study was a split-plot design crossover, consisting of two factors: cutting age (30, 45, and 60 days after planting [DAP]) as the main plot (whole periods) and regrowth (First Cutting, Regrowth 1, and Regrowth 2) as the subplot (sub periods). The study incorporated three replicates for each treatment. The findings and subsequent discourse reveal a substantial interaction effect (P < 0.05) between cutting age and regrowth on various teff grass productivity parameters, with the exception of stem diameter. Furthermore, substantial effects (P<0.05) were observed for teff grass nutrient content parameters, including dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), crude fiber (CF), ether extract (EE), and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). In vitro nutrient digestibility of teff grass demonstrated no interaction effect; however, a significant effect (P<0.05) was observed during the regrowth phase in IVDMD and IVOMD analyses, with nutrient digestibility levels ranging from 62.557 ± 1.58% to 73.285 ± 1.94% IVDMD and 68.210 ± 2.64% to 79.936 ± 1.62% IVOMD. The discussion has concluded that the interaction between the age at which teff grass is harvested and the subsequent regrowth of the crop can influence productivity, nutrient content, and in vitro digestibility. A cutting age of 60 DAP resulted in the highest forage productivity at the first cutting; however, there was a decrease in production during the regrowth phase, which also occurred at 45 DAP. Concurrently, a cutting age of 30 DAP yielded relatively stable results from the initial cutting to regrowth in terms of plant production.
