Sosok R.A.A. Cokronegoro I Dalam Polemik Hari Jadi Kabupaten Purworejo 1975-2019

Penelitian ini ditulis untuk melihat bagaimana sosok R.A.A. Cokronegoro dalam pusaran polemik hari jadi Kabupaten Purworejo, serta melihat bentuk pewarisan narasi atas sosok R.A.A. Cokronegoro I dan bentuk-bentuk politik hari jadi Kabupaten Purworejo. Sumber-sumber penelitian ini memakai naskah Arsip Bupati Soepantho Beberapa tulisan Radix Penadi, Wawancara Yayasan Keluarga Singowidjajan, Wawancara anggota panitia perumusan hari jadi, serta surat kabar sezaman. Setelah sumber tersebut diperoleh, lantas dilakukan verifikasi serta interpretasi atas berbagai temuan fakta yang ada. Dari sana kemudian dibangun sebuah konstruksi secara kronologis bagaimana sosok R.A.A. Cokronegoro I secara historis, sosoknya dalam pergulatan hari jadi pada era Orde Baru, serta dalam diskusi pelurusan hari jadi yang bermuara pada perubahan hari jadi. 

Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa polemik hari jadi Kabupaten Purworejo terjadi karena adanya pewarisan ingatan atas sosok R.A.A. Cokronegoro I dan politisasi sejarah yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah pusat maupun daerah. Kedua hal ini kemudian yang menggiring pandangan masyarakat atas sosok R.A.A. Cokronegoro I.

 

This research aims to examine the role of R.A.A. Cokronegoro in the controversy surrounding the anniversary of Purworejo Regency, as well as to examine the inherited narratives surrounding R.A.A. Cokronegoro I and the political implications of the anniversary. The sources used in this research are the Soepantho Regent Archives, several writings by Radix Penadi, an interview with people from descendants of Cokronegoro I, interview with Purworejo’s anniversary comitee, and contemporary newspapers. After obtaining these sources, verification and interpretation of the various facts were conducted. From these sources, a chronological construction of R.A.A. Cokronegoro I historical role, his role in the anniversary debate during the New Order era, and the discussions surrounding the anniversary that led to the change in the anniversary.

This research concludes that the controversy surrounding Purworejo Regency's anniversary stems from the inherited memory of R.A.A. Cokronegoro I and the politicization of history by both the central and regional governments. These two factor has influenced public perception of R.A.A. Cokronegoro I.
