Tyto alba has a role as a top predator that makes its presence important in an ecosystem, especially in controlling pests such as rodents in agricultural land. T. alba has a distinctive feeding behaviour, which is able to swallow its prey whole and vomit solid lumps containing the remains of the prey's body that cannot be digested, such as bones, feathers, or hair, after 6-7 hours. Dusun Cancangan has agricultural conditions that face serious pressure from rat pest attacks. However, although the presence of T. alba has been introduced, in-depth studies of the diet of this bird in agricultural land, especially in Dusun Cancangan, are still very limited. With the limited understanding of the T. alba diet in Dusun Cancangan, this study aims to study composition and biomass of prey, as well as analyze the T. alba's FNB in agricultural land, Dusun Cancangan, Sleman. This research was conducted from September to November 2024. The research location in at Pusat Studi dan Konservasi T. alba in Dusun Cancangan, Wukirsari, Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The method use in this study refers to Barn Owl Survey Methodology, and pellets were identified using dry techniques. Measurement of prey biomass was carried out by measuring the mandible using a regression equation. Observation of T. alba activity was carried out using infrared camera trap and the scan sampling method. The results showed that the composition of T. alba prey was dominated by small mammals. Prey biomass was dominated by R. argentiventer, while other prey contributed little. The low FNB value of T. alba at this location illustrates that T. alba at this location tends to be a specialist.
