Tourist Center dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Regionalisme di Pulau Belitung

Pulau Belitung merupakan salah satu kawasan dengan potensi wisata paling tinggi di Indonesia, dengan pantai pasir putih dan granit sebagai daya tarik utama. Namun, potensi ini masih jauh dari terealisasikan. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan sektor pariwisata, pemerintah setempat mencoba untuk mulai mengembangkan atraksi-atraksi wisata selain pantai, baik dari wisata sejarah, budaya, ataupun wisata alam lainnya yang masih belum terekspos. Kendala dari upaya ini adalah menemukan cara untuk mempromosikan atraksi-atraksi baru ini ke wisatawan yang kebanyakan datang ke Belitung untuk pantainya.

Kebutuhan atas sumber informasi pariwisata semakin tinggi. Kebutuhan ini dapat dinaungi dalam sebuah bangunan tourist center yang selain menjadi pusat informasi, juga menjadi one-stop-solution untuk berbagai kebutuhan wisatawan guna mendukung perkembangan pariwisata.

Sebagai kontak pertama dengan wisatawan, tourist center akan menjadi salah satu pembentuk persepsi terhadap pulau Belitung. Oleh karena itu, tourist center ini penting untuk mampu merepresentasikan identitas pulau Belitung denga baik. Pendekatan arsitektur regionalisme, yaitu pendekatan arsitektur yang menitikberatkan kepada kondisi unik setiap wilayah, dipilih sebagai upaya untuk mengadakan identitas ini.

Belitung Island is one of Indonesia's regions with the highest tourism potential, with white sand beaches and granite as its main attractions. However, this potential is far from being realized. In an effort to grow the tourism sector, the local government is developing attractions other than beaches, such as historical, cultural, and other natural attractions that are still unexplored. The challenge of this effort is finding ways to promote these new attractions to tourists who mostly come to Belitung for its beaches.

The need for tourism information sources is increasing. This need can be accommodated in a tourist center building which, in addition to being an information center, also becomes a one-stop-solution for various tourist needs to support the development of tourism.

As the first contact with tourists, the tourist center will be one of the shapers of perceptions of Belitung Island. Therefore, this tourist center is important to be able to represent the identity of Belitung Island well. A regionalist architectural approach, an architectural approach that emphasizes the unique conditions of each region, is chosen as an effort to establish this identity.
