Malocclusion is a condition of occlusion that does not conform to the standard of occlusion that is considered normal, and in Indonesia, this condition still has a relatively high prevalence rate. Malocclusion can cause problems and have a major impact on patients in terms of functional limits and aesthetics. To overcome this, orthodontic treatment is carried out according to its severity. Research that has been done before is the development of an orthodontic expert system for malocclusion cases using forward chaining and certainty factor methods. The system only focuses on the classification of Angle class malocclusion without measuring its severity. This research explores how to diagnose the severity of malocclusion by carrying out the diagnosis process with the help of an expert-based system. The expert system was developed using the Fuzzy Sugeno and Certainty Factor methods. The system performs the diagnosis process by measuring the distance of malocclusion and asking the symptoms felt, then calculating the answers to these questions so as to produce temporary diagnosis results. This research has been tested with 30 malocclusion cases. The evaluation is done by comparing the results of the system diagnosis with the results of the expert / dentist diagnosis.
