INTISARI
Penyu memiliki peran signifikan dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem laut, namun populasinya terus mengalami penurunan akibat berbagai ancaman seperti perburuan, kerusakan habitat, dan aktivitas manusia. Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation (BSTC) di Kabupaten Malang merupakan salah satu upaya konservasi berbasis masyarakat yang bertujuan melindungi populasi penyu di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi persepsi masyarakat Dusun Bajulmati terhadap program konservasi penyu di BSTC yang dapat menjadi indikator keberhasilan program konservasi berbasis komunitas.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner tertutup yang disusun berdasarkan tiga aspek persepsi, yaitu kognitif, afektif, dan konatif. Penentuan sampel menggunakan metode Rule of Thumb serta responden dipilih dengan menggunakan convenience sampling, dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 67 orang yang merupakan penduduk Dusun Bajulmati, Desa Gajahrejo. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan teknik deskriptif statistik untuk menggambarkan persepsi masyarakat terhadap program konservasi penyu di BSTC.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 97% responden yang memiliki persepsi positif, dan hanya terdapat 3% responden yang memiliki persepsi negatif. Mayoritas masyarakat memiliki persepsi positif terhadap program konservasi penyu di BSTC. Persepsi positif ini tercermin dari pemahaman yang baik mengenai manfaat konservasi penyu, dukungan emosional terhadap keberadaan program, serta partisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan konservasi. Dukungan masyarakat menjadi salah satu faktor kunci dalam keberlanjutan program konservasi di BSTC, sekaligus menunjukkan keberhasilan pendekatan berbasis komunitas dalam melestarikan penyu di wilayah tersebut.

Perceptions of Bajulmati Hamlet Residents Towards the Sea Turtle Conservation Program in Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation (BSTC), Malang Regency, East Java

ABSTRACT
Sea turtles play a significant role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems; however, their populations continue to decline due to various threats such as poaching, habitat degradation, and human activities. The Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation (BSTC) in Malang Regency represents a community-based conservation initiative aimed at protecting sea turtle populations in the region. This study aims to identificate the perceptions of the Bajulmati Hamlet community toward the sea turtle conservation program at BSTC, which can serve as an indicator of the success of community-based conservation programs.
This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire developed based on three dimensions of perception: cognitive, affective, and conative. The sample size was determined using the Rule of Thumb method, and respondents were selected through convenience sampling. A total of 67 respondents participated, all of whom are residents of Bajulmati Hamlet, Gajahrejo Village. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to describe community perceptions of the sea turtle conservation program at BSTC.
The results indicate that 97% of respondents hold positive perceptions, while only 3% have negative perceptions. The majority of the community demonstrates a positive perception of the sea turtle conservation program at BSTC. This positive perception is reflected in their good understanding of the benefits of sea turtle conservation, emotional support for the program, and active participation in conservation activities. Community support is a key factor in the sustainability of the conservation program at BSTC and highlights the success of the community-based approach in preserving sea turtles in the region.
