Analisis Teknik Pembentukan dan Fungsi Humor dalam Serial Sitcom "So Not Worth It (Naeil jiguga manghaebeoryeosseumyeon jokesseo)"

Penelitian ini mengkaji teknik pembentukan humor dan fungsi humor. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan teknik pembentukan humor dan fungsinya dalam sitcom berjudul So Not Worth It, yang menggambarkan kehidupan mahasiswa asing di Korea. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Berger (2017) dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan 12 teknik pembentukan dan 3 fungsi yang saling berhubungan, di mana beberapa teknik pembentukan humor dengan fungsi yang sama cenderung memiliki persamaan karakteristik. Humor yang terbentuk dari permainan kata (puns and wordplay) pada penelitian ini seluruhnya memiliki fungsi afiliasi (affiliation). Humor yang bersifat ofensif seperti adu mulut (repartee), cemoohan (ridicule), hinaan (insults), dan satir (satire) berfungsi sebagai agresi terselubung (masked aggression). Humor yang bersifat dramatis dan tidak terduga seperti alusi (allusion), bualan (bombast), cerita berlebihan dan kebohongan (exaggeration, tell tales, comic lies), ironi (irony), keharfiahan yang berlebihan (over literalness), kesalahpahaman (misunderstanding), dan lelucon (facetiousness) cenderung memiliki fungsi sebagai pereda ketegangan (tension relief). Oleh karena itu, dapat diketahui bahwa humor dapat terbentuk dari berbagai macam teknik dan memiliki fungsi yang beragam, serta teknik-teknik pembentukan humor tertentu secara konsisten berkorelasi dengan fungsi yang spesifik. Selain itu, perbedaan latar belakang budaya memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam proses pembentukan sejumlah tuturan humor pada penelitian ini.

This research examines the formation techniques and the function of humor. The aim of this research is to describe humor formation techniques and their function in the sitcom entitled So Not Worth It, which depicts the lives of foreign students in Korea. This research utilizes two theories proposed by Berger (2017) with a qualitative approach. The results of this research show that 12 formation techniques and 3 functions were found and are interconnected, where several formation techniques that have the same function tend to have similar characteristics. The humor formed from puns and wordplay in this research all has an affiliate function. Offensive humor such as repartee, ridicule, insults, and satire function as masked aggression. Humor that is dramatic and unpredictable such as allusion, bombast, exaggeration/tell tales/comic lies, irony, over literalness, misunderstanding, and facetiousness tends to function as a tension relief. Therefore, it can be seen that humor can be formed from various techniques and has various functions, and certain humor formation techniques are consistently correlated with specific functions. Moreover, differences in cultural backgrounds holds a significant role in the process of forming some of the humorous utterances in this research.
