Repertoire dalam Tiga Novel Karya Kuntowijoyo: Kajian Respons Estetik Wolfgang Iser

Penelitian ini fokus pada repertoire dalam novel-novel Kuntowijoyo, yaitu Mantra Pejinak Ular (MPU), Wasripin dan Satinah (WdS), dan Pasar (Psr). Ketiga objek material tersebut dianalisis dengan teori Respons Estetik Wolfang Iser berkaitan dengan repertoire yang meliputi Norma Sosial Budaya, Norma Historis, dan Referensi Terdahulu yang digunakan sebagai background penciptaan Kuntowijoyo selaku pengarang. Teori Iser mengenai repertoire yang digunakan dalam kajian memusatkan perhatian pada proses interaksi antara teks dengan pembaca sehingga menghasilkan respons.   

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa repertoire dalam tiga novel Kuntowijoyo, yaitu Mantra Pejinak Ular (MPU), Wasripin dan Satinah (WdS), dan Pasar (Psr), tidak terlepas dari norma sosial budaya, norma historis, dan referensi terdahulu yang menjadi background penciptaan Kuntowijoyo selaku pengarang. Norma sosial yang terefleksi dalam tiga novel Kuntowijoyo menggambarkan masyarakat Jawa, yaitu Jawa abangan, priyayi, dan wong cilik. Kuntowijoyo sebagai pengarang memiliki intensi bahwa pada zaman modern yang dibutuhkan adalah ilmu pengetahuan bukan mitos-mitos yang menyesatkan. Kuntowijoyo mematahkan dunia magis yang selama ini dianggap sebagai kekuatan. Hal ini merupakan wujud penolakan Kuntowijoyo terhadap yang syirik dan yang musyrik.

Norma historis yang terdapat dalam novel-novel Kuntowijoyo, yaitu menggambarkan masa Orde Baru. Norma historis berkaitan dengan Orde Baru tidak terlepas dari media wayang sebagai alat politik pada masa Orde Baru dan merepresentasikan pemilu tahun 1997 hingga menjelang peristiwa reformasi tahun 1998 (MPU); pemilu tahun 1982 dan peristiwa kelam terjadinya penembakan misterius (petrus) tahun 1983 di Yogyakarta (WdS). Peristiwa sejarah dalam novel MPU dan WdS digambarkan dengan tindak kekerasan fisik, kekerasan politik, ketidakadilan dan kesewenang-wenangan yang mengarah dehumanisasi. 

Dalam penciptaan tiga novelnya (MPU, WdS, dan Psr) Kuntowijoyo menggunakan referensi terdahulu yang menjadi background untuk menuju foreground dalam karyanya.  Referensi terdahulu yang ditemukan dalam novel MPU, WdS, dan Psr, yaitu Ramayana, Mahabharata, Nabi Khidir, Macapat, dan Paribasan. Referensi terdahulu yang dimunculkan dalam teks novel merupakan cara Kuntowijoyo menyampaikan pesan tentang keteladanan dan kebijaksanaan hidup serta kritik sosial secara implisit.     

 The research focuses on repertoire in Kuntowijoyo's novels, namely Mantra Pejinak Ular (MPU), Wasripin dan Satinah (WdS), and Pasar (Psr). These three material objects were analyzed using Wolfgang Iser's Aesthetic Response Theory repertoire, which includes Socio-Cultural Norms, Historical Norms, and Previous References used as background creation of Kuntowijoyo as author. Iser's theory of repertoire, wich is used in the study, focuses on the process of interaction between the text and the reader until it produces a response. 

The research results show that repertoire in Kuntowijoyo’s three novels, namely Mantra Pejinak Ular (MPU), Wasripin dan Satinah (WdS), and Pasar (Psr), cannot be separated from socio-cultural norms, historical norms, and previous references that become the background creation of Kuntowijoyo as an author. The social norms reflected in Kuntowijoyo's three novels describe Javanese society, namely Javanese abangan, priyayi, and wong cilik. Kuntowijoyo, as the author, has the intention that in modern times, what is needed is science, not misleading myths. Kuntowijoyo breaks the magical world, which has been considered a force. This is a form of Kuntowijoyo's rejection of the polytheist and the idolatrous.

The historical norms contained in Kuntowijoyo's novels describe the New Order era. Historical norms relating to the New Order cannot be separated from wayang media as a political tool during the New Order era and representing the 1997 elections up to the eve of the 1998 reformation events (MPU); elections in 1982 and the dark incident of the mysterious shooting (petrus) in 1983 in Yogyakarta (WdS). Historical events in the novel MPU and WdS are depicted by acts of physical violence, political violence, injustice, and arbitrariness that lead to dehumanization. 

In the creation of his three novels (MPU, WdS, and Psr), Kuntowijoyo uses previous references that become background to go to the foreground in his work.  Previous references found in the novel MPU, WdS, and Psr, namely Ramayana, Mahabharata, Nabi Khidir, Macapat, and Paribasan. The previous references that appear in the novel text are Kuntowijoyo's way of conveying messages about example and life wisdom, as well as implicit social criticism.
