A house for the Javanese community is a protected place because there is clear authority within it and it symbolizes dignity, honour, and the perfection of being human. The interconnected spaces have clear physical boundaries, but sometimes in a dynamic life, those boundaries become blurred, and integration and segregation within a space can change at any moment. The configuration between spaces not only provides an overview of spatial relationships hierarchically but can also generate specific patterns of social relationships occurring in the surrounding environment. Space Syntax refers to a theory and method for understanding and analyzing the relationships between spaces and the processes of their formation in relation to the surrounding environment. In this study, conducted in three villages in Kotegede, a mixed-method approach was used with the Space Syntax method, employing justified graph and visual graph analysis. This study found that the sample of traditional houses examined experienced changes in activity patterns and a decrease in the number of house occupants, leading to a tendency for spatial transformation, the addition and/or reduction of spaces, and changes in room functions in accordance with the needs of the occupants. Based on the justified graph analysis, eleven out of twelve cases experienced partial reductions and/or additions of space, yet the overall spatial configuration remained intact or did not appear to change significantly. The ?RA values between spaces in all cases of traditional joglo houses, such as the emper, ndalem, senthong tengen, senthong tengah, senthong kiwa, and kitchen, indicate that these spaces are irreplaceable and have been preserved to this day. The pattern of ?RA value distribution across all samples of traditional Joglo houses shows that the spaces in the samples of traditional Joglo houses tend to be more integrated and spatially public. In addition, the visual graph analysis shows that eight out of twelve cases of the spatial configuration of the traditional Joglo houses studied exhibit a dominance of spaces that tend to have a low level of integration with a high distribution of visibility in open spaces, while the other four cases have spaces with a high level of integration and an even distribution of visibility. Thus, the spaces in most cases of traditional Joglo houses in Kotagede tend to have low levels of integration and are more visually private.
