Tinjauan daya tahan lama terhadap air sungai berlumpur pada campuran beton aspal

Kondisi ini akan mempercepat degradasi kinerja perkerasan yang pada umumnya menggunakan bahan perkerasan campuran aspal. Perkerasan dengan menggunakan beton aspal yang diharapkan dapat bertahan cukup lama akan berkurang daya tahannya akibat perendaman tersebut. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan penelitian yang mengukur seberapa besar pengaruh perendaman air sungai yang mengandung lumpur terhadap durabilitas beton aspal sehingga akan dapat dipertimbangkan penanganan selanjutnya apabila kondisi ini terjadi di lapangan Penelitian daya tahan lama terhadap air berlumpur pada campuran beton aspal ini dilakukan melalui pengujian rendaman dengan variasi lama rendaman 1, 2, 4, dan 7 hari. Penelitian terdiri dari pemeriksaan kadar aspal optimum (KAO) pada campuran dengan gradasi yang direncanakan dan penelitian durabilitas beton aspal yang dilakukan dengan berbagai variasi penambahan kadar aspal dari kadar aspal optimum yaitu 0%, 0,25%, 0,5% dan 1%. Seluruh pengujian dilakukan dengan metoda pengujian Marshall untuk mengukur stabilitas dan flow masing-masing benda uji yang menjadi dasar perhitungan nilai daya tahan lama (durability) campuran beton aspal. Kadar aspal optimum pada gradasi terpilih didapat 5,5%. Hasil penelitian durabilitas dengan penambahan variasi kadar aspal menunjukkan terjadinya penurunan tingkat stabilitas yang cukup signifikan pada campuran beton aspal akibat perendaman oleh air sungai berlumpur. Pada kadar aspal optimum Indeks kekuatan sisa hanya mencapai 74,59%. Penambahan kadar aspal pada rentang tertentu dapat menaikan daya tahan lama campuran akibat perendaman (durability), hal ini ditunjukkan dengan Indeks durabilitas pada masing masing benda uji. Nilai indeks durabilitas pada kadar aspal 5,5%, 5,75%, 6,0%, dan 6,5%, berturut-turut adalah 29.14%, 25.15%, 22.44%, dan 14.61%. Data hasil penelitian tersebut memperlihatkan bahwa Kadar aspal 6,5% merupakan campuran terbaik dan memenuhi spesifikasi yang berlaku dengan indeks kekuatan sisa diatas 85%.
Road immersion by muddy water affects the weakness of asphalt adhesion and acceleration of rottenness or aggregate destruction caused by oxidization and water infiltration and also mud particle to the mixture. This condition will accelerate the degradation of pavement performance which commonly uses asphalt mixture as pavement material. Pavement which uses asphaltic concrete, that is expected to be durable for long time period, would be decreased due to immersion. There for, it is required a research to investigate the influence of immersion by muddy water river to the durability behaviour of the asphaltic concrete, so that it will be able to consider a follow up if this condition real happens. The research of durability behaviour of the asphaltic concrete mixture due to muddy water was performed by immersion test with variety of immersion period of 1, 2, 4, and 7 days. The research is consisted of an optimum asphalt content examination base on the gradation planned mixture and test of asphaltic concrete durability by adding some varieties of asphalt content of the optimum asphalt content 0%, 0.25%, 0.5%, and 1%. The whole test was taken by Marshall test method to measure the stability and flow of each specimen which became a basic measurement of asphaltic concrete mixture durability. The optimum asphalt content on the selected gradation was 5.5%. the results of the durability test with varieties addition of asphalt content shown significantly in declining the stability level of asphaltic concrete mixture which immersion by muddy water river. At optimum asphalt content, the retained strength index was 74.59%. The addition of the asphalt content in certain range affecting in increasing the durability of the mix caused by immersion, this was shown by the durability index of each specimen. The values of durability index at 5.5%, 5.75%, 6.0%, and 6.5% asphalt contents were 29.14%, 25.15%, 22.44%, and 14.61% respectively. The data research results shown that at 6.5% asphalt content was the best mixture and satisfy the specification with the retained strength index of above 85%.
