Tinjauan daya tahan lama terhadap air hujan pada campuran beton aspal

2004 | Tesis | Magister Sistem dan Teknik Transportasitinggi menyebabkan aspal mengalami degradasi, hal ini mempengaruhi ikatan aspal dan agregat, pada akhirnya menurunkan durabilitas beton aspal. Sehubungan hal tersebut perlu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh perendaman air hujan terhadap durabilitas beton aspal, sehingga mendapatkan solusi berkaitan dengan kondisi tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan dengan cara membuat benda uji campuran beton aspal dengan variasi kadar aspal 5,5%; 5,75%; 6,0% dan 6,5% terhadap total agregat. Melakukan perendaman benda uji menggunakan air hujan dengan variasi lama perendaman 1, 2, 4 dan 7 hari, selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian karakteristik Marshall untuk mengukur stabilitas dan flow. Hasil uji karateristik Marshall dianalisis untuk mendapatkan indeks durabilitas yang digunakan sebagai parameter penurunan durabilitas campuran beton aspal. Penelitian menunjukkan akibat perendaman air hujan durabilitas campuran beton aspal pada kadar aspal optimum turun cukup signifikan yaitu IDP sebesar 36,3% dan IDK (a) sebesar 32,6%. Akibat penambahan kadar aspal durabilitas cenderung naik ditandai dengan turunnya IDP dan IDK (a). Besaran nilai indeks durabilitas sesuai variasi kadar aspal adalah IDP : 36,3%; 30,0%; 23,7%; dan 15,2%; dan IDK (a) : 32,6%; 27,8%; 21,9%; dan 14,2%. Dari nilai-nilai hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan pengaruh rendaman air hujan mengakibatkan durabilitas campuran beton aspal turun signifikan. Penambahan kadar aspal 1% di atas kadar aspal optimum meningkatkan durabilitas campuran beton aspal IDP sebesar 21,1% dan IDK (a) sebesar 18,4%.
The immersion by rainwater which having low pH and high oxygen content cause the asphalt experience of the degradation, this matter influence the adhesion of asphalt and aggregate, and the finally, decrease the durability of the asphaltic concrete. According to this circumstances, therefore, it is required a research to investigate the influence of immersion by rainwater to the durability of the asphaltic concrete, hence that get the solution related to that condition. The investigation was conducted by making specimen of the asphaltic concrete mixture with the variation of asphalt content 5.5%, 5.75%, 6.0% and 6.5% by mass of the total aggregate. Immerse the specimen used the rainwater with the variation immersion, of 1, 2, 4 and 7 days, subsequently performed the Marshall characteristic test to measure the stability and flow. Results of this test was then analysed to determine the durability index [referred to as IDP and IDK(a)] which used as parameter of decreasing the durability of asphaltic concrete mixture. The research results showed that the effect of immersion by rainwater the durability of asphaltic concrete mixture at optimum asphalt content decrease significantly, the value of IDP was 36.3% and IDK (a) was 32.6%. The addition of the asphalt content affecting in increasing the durability of the mix by indicating of reducing the value of the IDP and IDK (a). The index durability values according to variation of asphalt content were IDP : 36.3%, 30.0%, 23.7% and 15.2%, and IDK (a) : 32.6%, 27.8%, 21.9%, and 14.2%. Based on the values result of the research, it can be concluded that the influence of rainwater immersion resulting in significantly decreased of the durability of the asphaltic concrete mixture. The addition asphalt content 1% above the optimum asphalt content improve the durability of asphaltic concrete mixture, with the values of IDP of 21.1% and IDK (a) of 18.4%.
