Electrospinning is a widely used technique for producing nanofibers, with applications in areas such as filters, biomedical materials, and textiles. One of the essential components in an electrospinning machine is the collector, which serves as the medium for capturing nanofibers. Currently, many researchers are modifying collectors into drum collectors to obtain various characteristics. However, this approach has not yet addressed the issue of the uneven distribution of nanofiber membranes, leading to non-uniform nanofiber spread. To address this, a sliding drum collector system is designed and developed for the electrospinning machine, focusing on controlling the accuracy of rotational speed (RPM) and the drum's horizontal movement. The system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller as the main control unit, a DC motor with an encoder to regulate the drum collector's RPM, and a stepper motor to control the drum's horizontal shifting.
The test results showed that the system could achieve an RPM accuracy of 99.7%. Additionally, the integration between the ESP32, DC motor, and stepper motor provides stable and responsive performance, allowing real-time adjustment of the electrospinning process parameters.
With these results, the designed sliding drum collector system can enhance the quality of nanofiber distribution on the drum collector, offering a flexible and efficient solution for electrospinning applications.
