Knowing the anxiety level of cataract preoperative patients is very important, this is to plan better care and be able to approach holistically.Research Objectives: This study aims to determine the anxiety level of cataract preoperative patients at Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. Method: This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. This study was conducted in the Bugenvil 4 Adult Inpatient Room and One Day Service (ODC) of Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta from August 16 to September 23, 2024. The population in this study was cataract preoperative patients at Dr. Sardjito Hospital Yogyakarta. Calculation of the sample size used the Lameshow formula, the total sample in this study was 100 respondents. The sampling technique used was nonprobability sampling with a consecutive sampling method. Instruments to measure the anxiety level of cataract preoperative patients used the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). Data analysis used was univariate and cross tabulation between respondent characteristics and patient anxiety levels. Results: This study showed that 30% experienced mild anxiety, 26% moderate anxiety, 20% severe anxiety, 7% severe anxiety/panic, and 17% did not experience anxiety. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the description of the anxiety level of pre-cataract surgery patients at Dr. Sardjito Hospital is a mild level of anxiety.
