Rice field selection is a critical challenge in the agricultural sector, involving various factors such as soil conditions, climate, and land suitability. Previous research indicates that less objective decision-making can negatively impact rice production, land sustainability, and farmer welfare. Therefore, enhancing objectivity in the rice field selection process is essential.
This study proposes a decision support system that integrates three methods: Analytical Hierarchy Process, Profile Matching, and Simple Additive Weighting. The AHP method is used to determine the importance weights of each relevant criterion, PM is applied to evaluate how closely each land alternative matches the ideal profile, and SAW is employed to calculate the final score of each land alternative.
System implementation results indicate that the Palaran site achieved the highest score of 4.489, signifying that this site best meets the ideal criteria for rice cultivation compared to other land options. This score not only reflects the land's suitability across various evaluation factors but also demonstrates the effectiveness of the combined methods used. The addition of the Profile Matching method in this DSS was motivated by the need to assess how closely the actual land conditions align with the established ideal profile. A higher score indicates that the land is more suitable for rice cultivation, thereby proving that the integration of Profile Matching into the DSS enhances the relevance of the land recommendations generated.
