Background: Circumcision is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of a portion of the prepuce, the skin covering the glans penis, thereby exposing the glans penis. This procedure is associated with various benefits in both religious and health contexts.
Objective: This study aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of anesthesia administered via the syringe method and the needleless method during circumcision procedures.
Method: This research employs an observational design with a prospective cohort approach, supplemented by statistical analysis using the independent t-test. A total of 28 respondents were assigned to each group: the syringe method group and the needleless method group. Data collection was conducted using an observation sheet as the primary instrument.
Results: The results indicate that the average onset time of the anesthetic effect was 4.53 minutes in the syringe method group, compared to 3.14 minutes in the needleless method group. Additionally, the duration from the onset of the anesthetic effect to its dissipation was 95.39 minutes in the syringe group and 79.00 minutes in the needleless group.
Conclusion: The needleless anesthesia method is associated with a faster onset of anesthetic action compared to the syringe method, suggesting its potential as a more efficient alternative for circumcision procedures.
