Eksploitasi dibalik "Pemberdayaan Pekerja" pada UMKM: Studi Kasus Pekerja Kerajinan Tas Anyaman Plastik di Kampung Wisata UMKM, Desa Junrejo, Kota Batu

    UMKM kerajinan tas anyaman plastik merupakan sektor pekerjaan yang berperan sebagai wadah dalam pemberdayaan pekerja karena mampu menyerap tenaga kerja perempuan paling banyak di Desa Junrejo, Kota Batu. Mereka terdiri dari ibu rumah tangga, lansia, janda, petani, peternak, dan para remaja perempuan. Akan tetapi, produk kerajinan ini seringkali dibandrol dengan harga yang sangat murah di pasaran. Padahal, proses pengerjaannya terbilang sangat rumit dan memakan waktu yang sangat lama. Hal ini tentunya berimbas pada upah yang didapatkan oleh para pekerja yang tidak sebanding dengan waktu dan tenaga yang telah dikeluarkan. Demi mencapai sasaran yang diinginkan, para pengusaha memaksimalkan produktifitasnya dengan menekan para pekerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap praktik-praktik eksploitasi yang terjadi kepada para pekerja kerajinan tas anyaman plastik dibalik branding-nya sebagai wadah dalam "pemberdayaan pekerja".

    Tulisan ini menggunakan teori Marxisme dengan pendekatan Marxis Baru (Neo-Marxis) dalam antropologi ekonomi untuk mengkaji praktik eksploitasi yang terjadi kepada para pekerja. Metode penelitian dalam tulisan ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi dan wawancara yang dilakukan pada Bulan Mei 2024 dengan lima narasumber yang terdiri dari pemilik dan tiga pekerja kerajinan UMKM tas anyaman plastik milik Ibu Siti di Desa Junrejo serta pengelola PLUT yang berada di bawah naungan Diskumperindag Kota Batu.

    Hasil yang ditemukan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kerajinan tas anyaman plastik dapat berkembang dengan branding "pemberdayaan pekerja" pada masyarakat Desa Junrejo, akan tetapi hal tersebut menjadi kamuflase praktik-praktik eksploitasi sehingga para pekerja menerima kondisi tersebut tanpa melakukan perlawanan secara langsung karena telah terhegemoni, di mana para pekerja merasa berterima kasih atas penghidupan yang telah diberikan melalui pekerjaan ini. Eksploitasi yang terjadi kepada para pekerja berupa upah yang rendah dan jam kerja yang tidak mengenal libur.

    Plastic woven bag craft is a work sector that acts as a container for workers empowerment because it is able to absorb the most female workers in Junrejo Village, Batu City. They consist of housewives, elderly people, widows, farmers, and young women. However, these craft products are often priced very cheaply on the market, even though the process is very complicated and takes a very long time. This certainly has an impact on the wages received by workers which are not commensurate with the time and energy that has been expended. In order to achieve the desired goals, entrepreneurs maximize their productivity by suppressing workers. This study aims to uncover the exploitation practices that occur to plastic woven bag craft workers behind their branding as a container for "workers empowerment".

    This paper uses Marxis theory with a Neo-Marxis approach in economic anthropology to examine the exploitation practices that occur to workers. The research method in this paper uses a qualitative approach through observation and interviews conducted in May 2024 with five informants consisting of the owner and three workers of plastic woven bag craft owner by Mrs. Siti in Junrejo Village and the manager of the PLUT under the auspices of the Diskumperindag of Batu City.

    The result found in the field indicate that the plastic woven bag craft can develop with the branding of "workers empowerment" in the Junrejo Village community, but this is a camouflage for exploitative practices so that workers accept these conditions without directly resisting because they have been hegemonized, where workers feel grateful for the livelihood that has been given through this work. The exploitation that occurs to workers in the form of low wages and working hours that do not recognize holidays.
