ANALISIS DAMPAK BANDARA YOGYAKARTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (YIA) TERHADAP TINGKAT KEMISKINAN DI DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA

Pembangunan Bandar Udara Internasional Yogyakarta (YIA) di Kulonprogo, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), merupakan investasi besar oleh pemerintah pusat dan daerah yang bertujuan selain untuk sarana transportasi udara juga untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi, memperbaiki infrastruktur regional, dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan sosial masyarakat. Penelitian ini berfokus pada dampak dari pendirian Bandara YIA yang berkontribusi pada pengurangan kemiskinan di daerah sekitarnya. Meskipun banyak studi tentang dampak ekonomi dari pembangunan infrastruktur, terdapat kesenjangan penelitian yang signifikan dalam mengkaji secara empiris efek pembangunan bandara baru terhadap tingkat kemiskinan, terutama dalam konteks DIY. Dengan menggunakan data panel dari BPS DIY yang mencakup 60 observasi di lima kabupaten/kota selama 12 tahun (2012-2023), penelitian ini menggunakan metode Difference-in-Differences (DiD) untuk mengevaluasi dampak tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan YIA secara signifikan mempengaruhi pengurangan kemiskinan di DIY. Namun pada penelitian ini juga menyimpulkan bahwa pembangunan YIA tidak otomatis mengurangi kemiskinan di wilayah sekitarnya. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan kebijakan pendukung untuk memastikan distribusi manfaat ekonomi yang lebih merata, sehingga proyek infrastruktur besar seperti YIA dapat memberikan dampak positif terhadap kondisi sosial-ekonomi seluruh wilayah DIY.

The development of Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon progo, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), represents a significant investment by the central and regional governments aimed at boosting economic growth, improving regional infrastructure, and enhancing the social welfare of the community. This study focuses on the impact of the establishment of YIA Airport on poverty reduction in the surrounding areas. Although there are many studies on the economic impact of infrastructure development, there is a significant research gap in empirically examining the effects of new airport construction on poverty levels, particularly in the context of DIY. Using panel data from BPS DIY covering 60 observations across five districts/cities over 12 years (2012-2023), this study employs the Difference-in-Differences (DiD) method to evaluate the impact. The research findings show that the construction of YIA significantly affects poverty reduction in DIY. However, this study also concludes that the construction of YIA does not automatically reduce poverty in the surrounding areas. Therefore, supporting policies are needed to ensure a more equitable distribution of economic benefits so that large infrastructure projects like YIA can positively impact the socio-economic conditions of the entire DIY region.
