This study aims to analyze the impact of parental remarriage on children’s education in Indonesia. It compares the educational attainment of children with remarried mothers to that of children with divorced mothers who did not remarry. This study uses a panel dataset from the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) waves 3 to 5 and utilizes fixed-effects regression as its primary regression method. This study finds that children of remarried mothers are less likely to achieve higher years of education than children of divorced mothers who did not remarry if their mother’s years of education are low. Conversely, we will find a reversing trend if the mother’s years of education are high enough. This study shows that the impact of remarriage or any marital status transitions on children’s education varies based on the mother’s years of education. In addition, this study found that variables such as living location, household size, and household expenditure are statistically significant for children's educational attainment.
