LEVERAGE, KESULITAN KEUANGAN, KRISIS, TATA KELOLA, DAN KINERJA PERUSAHAAN: STUDI EMPIRIS PADA FRAGILE COUNTRIES

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninvestigasi pengaruh penggunaan leverage terhadap kinerja perusahaan dengan mempertimbangkan peran kesuitan keuangan, krisis, serta variabel yang bersifat country level (seperti tata kelola negara). Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi dengan sampel 2.393 perusahaan non keuangan yang terdaftar di bursa efek Indonesia, India, dan Brazil dari tahun 2012 hingga 2022. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa leverage berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja, kesulitan keuangan dan krisis memperlemah pengaruh positif leverage ke kinerja, dan tata kelola negara memperkuat pengaruh positif leverage ke kinerja. 

This study aims to investigate the effect of the use of leverage on company performance by considering the role of financial difficulties, crises, and country level variables (such as country governance). This study uses regression analysis with a sample of 2,393 non-financial companies listed on the Indonesian, Indian and Brazilian stock exchanges from 2012 to 2022. The research results show that leverage has a positive effect on performance, financial difficulties and crises weaken the positive effect of leverage on performance, and state governance strengthens the positive influence of leverage on performance.
